How to Advocate for Your Child

4-Part Workshop each Wednesday beginning 5/02/2018

This is the first of a 4 part workshop for parents of children with special needs. You are your child’s best advocate. Join us as we explore the special education system.

Week one: The Ins and Outs of an IEP. What should it include and how to make changes. We will also look at The Eligiblity Process and determining the right placement for your child.

Week Two: How to organize and manage your child’s records and how to communicate with the school.

Week Three: Conflict with the School. We will focus on how to manage the conflict in a positive way that preserves your relationship with the school and how to achieve a win-win solution. We will also take a brief look at the Mediation Process and Due Process Hearings.

Week Four: Discipline of a child with Special Needs. This is a critial workshop that every parent of a child with special needs should attend. We will examine the law and what it says as well as how to handle Manifestation meetings and Discipline Hearings.

**Childcare is available for an additional $5 per child. Please let us know ahead of time so that we can prepare and coordinate staff. We will order pizza for the kids and provide a movie for entertainment.
