Special Needs Night

February 12, 2019 @ 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Jump Trampoline Park

Jump VB will be offering its second private jump for special needs! It is open to all disabilities. For each ticket, an accompanying adult or sibling may jump for free. Tickets are $8 plus tax. Socks are $2 plus tax. Waivers may be filled out online at http://www.jumpvabeach.com/waiver/ or in person before jumping. Hope to see you there!

Medicaid Waiver Workshop

February 12, 2019 @ 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Watkins Early Childhood Center
Are you interested in learning about the Medicaid waivers and programs?
We will discuss eligibility and details of theses waivers and related programs.

Commonwealth Coordinated Care (CCC) Plus waiver
Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic and Treatment (EPSDT) program
Health Insurance Premium Payment (HIPP) program
Developmental Disabilities (Building Independence, Family and Individual Support, and Community Living – BI, FIS and CL) waivers
Individual and Family Support Program (IFSP) grant program

All of these programs can assist individuals with Developmental Disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder live in their homes and communities.
The program is available through a partnership between the Autism Society, Tidewater Virginia and the Newport News Parent Educator Resource Center.

https://campscui.active.com/orgs/FamiliesofAutisticChildreninTidewater Ages 6-12 9:15 to 10:30 Ages 13 and older 10:45 to 12PM Gonnawannaswishagin’ provides a small, interactive, supportive atmosphere where children ages 6 and older can increase their knowledge about basketball, teamwork, and about themselves. Our goal is for every child to walk out of the gym with a smile on their face. We have two experienced coaches and plenty of peer volunteers to help model skills and encourage participation, but adult supervision is limited and parents or caregivers will be required to stay on site during instruction. All ability levels are welcome, however FACT sports programs are recommended for students with fair receptive language skills who can follow simple directions and imitate actions.

Ages 4 and up 🙂 If your child can “throw” a ball (6 lbs) they can sign up!
We will have bumpers for kids, and also a ball ramp aid to help throwing the ball down the lane!

Games, prizes, concessions sold (cash only) for the whole family FACT hosts five seasonal celebrations during the traditional school year called “Family Fun Days.” Fun Days are a great opportunity for parents to network while children with ASD and their siblings play in a safe and supportive environment. These events generally follow seasonal themes (Halloween, Valentines’ Day, Christmas, etc.) and always feature games, prizes, crafts, birthday celebrations, and more. Skyzone Cares

Sky Zone Cares is our monthly sensory friendly event for guests with Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder and special needs. This is an all ages, all bodies, all abilities event. Guests with special needs get 60-minutes of jump time for $8 and one caregiver jumps free. We strongly encourage all jumpers to fill out their waivers on our website prior to arriving at the park.

GonnawannaBOWLagin’ – Bowling

February 17, 2019 @ 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm

https://campscui.active.com/orgs/FamiliesofAutisticChildreninTidewater There will be no bowling on January 27th and February 3. Gonnawannabowlagin’ is a peer bowling league that takes place in the fall and winter and is designed for students with ASD 8 or older who want to be part of a team. All ability levels are welcome, however the league is recommended for students with fair receptive language skills. Supervision will be limited and participation will be facilitated by student volunteers. Adult and student volunteers will be on hand to assist our bowlers but all parents and caregivers are expected to participate by keeping score, keeping our students on task and encouraging them. We bowl every Sunday afternoon for 8 weeks at the Pinboys on Laskin Road in Virginia Beach. A one-time registration fee includes two games per week and an end of season party .

F.A.C.T. Chorus

There is no audition process, but participants will be asked to sing something solo at our first rehearsal to assess their ability. Chorus is for anyone who enjoys singing. Participants should be able to sit or stand (relatively) still for up to 45 minutes (the length of rehearsals and the concert). Ability to read is a plus but not mandatory. This activity is not recommended for individuals with hearing sensitivity. We will hold practice for seven consecutive Monday evenings from 7:00-8:00 pm at Friends School gymnasium. Singers must attend at least 7 rehearsals to participate in the concert on Monday, March 4th.
