F.A.C.T. Chorus

FACT Chorus- For our premier season we will be performing Disney Favorites! There is no audition process, but participants will be asked to sing something solo at our first rehearsal to assess their ability. Chorus is for anyone who enjoys singing. Participants should be able to sit or stand (relatively) still for up to 45 minutes (the length of rehearsals and the concert). Ability to read is a plus but not mandatory. This activity is not recommended for individuals with hearing sensitivity. We will hold practice for seven consecutive Monday evenings from 7:00-8:00 pm at Friends School gymnasium. Singers must attend at least 7 rehearsals to participate in the concert on Monday, March 4th.

RPG Club Social- Dungeons & Dragons (ages 14 and up)

Meet fellow Dungeons & Dragons players in person to team up with other adventurers the old-fashioned, tabletop way. ​Roll the dice, explore dark dungeons, abandoned castles, and battle the monsters that describe a world through a story. No need for prior experience, the Game Master will lead you to your vivid imagination of mighty heroes and medieval warriors! Pizza and drinks are provided. Our goal is for every child to walk out of the gym with a smile on their face. We have two experienced coaches and plenty of peer volunteers to help model skills and encourage participation, but adult supervision is limited and parents or caregivers will be required to stay on site during instruction. All ability levels are welcome, however FACT sports programs are recommended for students with fair receptive language skills who can follow simple directions and imitate actions.

Out-n-About – Lego Movie 2

We will go to see Lego Movie 2: The Second Part.

The citizens of Bricksburg face a dangerous new threat when LEGO DUPLO invaders from outer space to wreck everything in their path. Please note: price includes staff, ticket and transportation. Concessions are not included.

Please provide your child monies to purchase concessions such as beverage or popcorn Please put monies in a wallet or baggie with their name in or on it as well advising their staff at check in. Purpose: To provide social interaction and community engagement opportunities to teens and young adults with autism.

Criteria: Individuals 13 to 30 with a primary diagnosis of autism are eligible to attend. Out-n-About is designed for individuals who do not meet the communication and behavior criteria for Teen Time or Social Club but still want and need to spend time with their peers enjoying recreational activities. Participants may be non-verbal and/ or exhibit stereotypical behaviors. Students who become physically aggressive when frustrated may not be good candidates for the Out-n-About program.

Supervision: FACT staff will be provided on a 1:1 or 1:2 basis as needed. We are aware that many individuals with autism do not fully understand signs of danger and may be prone to wander if not closely supervised.
Registration: Everyone must RSVP online a minimum of 48 hours prior to Out N About (please note that space is frequently limited and may be sold out prior to the 48-hour deadline.)

Private Jump for Children with Special Needs

GonnawannaBOWLagin’ – Bowling

Gonnawannabowlagin’ is a peer bowling league that takes place in the fall and winter and is designed for students with ASD 8 or older who want to be part of a team. All ability levels are welcome, however the league is recommended for students with fair receptive language skills. Supervision will be limited and participation will be facilitated by student volunteers. Adult and student volunteers will be on hand to assist our bowlers but all parents and caregivers are expected to participate by keeping score, keeping our students on task and encouraging them. We bowl every Sunday afternoon for 8 weeks at the Pinboys on Laskin Road in Virginia Beach. A one-time registration fee includes two games per week and an end of season party .
