This class is a wonderful way to wind down the busy week of learning. We learn ways to cope in difficult situations by practicing emotional awareness, mindfulness, singing, dancing, and yoga poses. Children are encouraged to bring their own yoga mat and water bottle. Children who attend this class can be home schooled children or public school children.

Young Adult Social (ages 17 and up)

February 1, 2019 @ 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at Inside Out Learners, Inc.

This event is intended for young adults* ages 17-35 who are interested in hanging out with other individuals their age in a safe, nonjudgmental environment. We host this event two Fridays per month. Many of our clients are on the autism spectrum (high functioning/Aspergers) however, there is no need for a specific diagnosis to participate. A variety of games/activities that help increase self-confidence are used to provide young adults with the subtle guidance needed in this casual, laid back social event. You may RSVP here however, YOU MUST REGISTER AT THE LINK BELOW TO GUARANTEE YOUR SPOT no later than the day of the event at noon. Gonnawannaswishagin’ provides a small, interactive, supportive atmosphere where children ages 6 and older can increase their knowledge about basketball, teamwork, and about themselves. Our goal is for every child to walk out of the gym with a smile on their face. We have two experienced coaches and plenty of peer volunteers to help model skills and encourage participation, but adult supervision is limited and parents or caregivers will be required to stay on site during instruction. All ability levels are welcome, however FACT sports programs are recommended for students with fair receptive language skills who can follow simple directions and imitate actions.

I wanted to post that we have a Youth Bowling League over at Scott Annex Bowling Alley!!

We are needing more kids!

Ages 4 and up!
If your child can “throw” a ball (6 lbs) they can sign up!
We will have bumpers for kids, and also a ball ramp aid to help throwing the ball down the lane!

Newport News Respite Night at Rebounderz

Please join us for our monthly Magnificent Mondays Respite Night at Rebounderz in Newport News for individuals on the Autism Spectrum.

Parents and caregivers, you can drop-off your loved one for a 2 hour jump (6:00 to 8:00 pm). This event is for ages 5 and older. If your participant has successfully attended before and they are 4 years old, then please still RSVP and email nicole.miller@tidewaterasa.org. The age limit is to ensure the safety of our participants. We have another respite night coming up for little guys and gals.

PLEASE REMEMBER TO FEED YOUR PARTICIPANT BEFORE DROPPING THEM OFF. If they do not eat prior to the start of the event, then please let us know. We only provide water. A plan for dinner for the participant will need to be made with the event coordinator. Nicole Miller will email and text you your check-in time prior to the start of the jump.
We are staggering it into 10 minute increments (5:30, 5:40, 5:50 and 6:00).

Jump passes do not start until 6:00 pm. Individuals with Autism will be paired with a peer buddy to jump with to facilitate socialization. A quiet room will be available for participants who need a break, and facility will be sensory friendly (music lowered, lights on, etc). Food is available for purchase at the facility.

Jump pass and socks are FREE to participants and volunteers, but if you have participated in the past and have sock, then please bring them.

F.A.C.T. Chorus

FACT Chorus-

For our premier season we will be performing Disney Favorites! There is no audition process, but participants will be asked to sing something solo at our first rehearsal to assess their ability. Chorus is for anyone who enjoys singing. Participants should be able to sit or stand (relatively) still for up to 45 minutes (the length of rehearsals and the concert). Ability to read is a plus but not mandatory. This activity is not recommended for individuals with hearing sensitivity. We will hold practice for seven consecutive Monday evenings from 7:00-8:00 pm at Friends School gymnasium. Singers must attend at least 7 rehearsals to participate in the concert on Monday, March 4th.
