Surf Camp for kids on the autism spectrum

Grateful for the McIntosh Family

A little over a year ago, I received an email from Lynn McIntosh, mom to three wonderful kids. She and her husband, Chad, were looking to buy a home in Chesapeake. Schools were very important to them as two of their kids are still in school and their youngest is dually diagnosed with Autism and Downs Syndrome.

Through out the home buying process, Lynn and I became fast friends. We both have kids on the Autism Spectrum and she is one of those people you just feel better being around. Right before they were going to close on the house, Chad had to leave on a 9 month deployment. So, Lynn closed on their house and moved all 3 kids into a new home, new city, and new schools on her own. Did I mention she is also getting her MS in Special Education? She is one of the strongest people I know.

During the summer Lynn and I became even closer.  We have taken the kids to the beach, had them attend Surf Camp, went Stand Up Paddle Boarding together, and she even came to our Santa Party this winter, plus lunches, texting, etc.  You get the idea.  I am tickled I get to call her my friend.

There is nothing like family reuniting, especially after a long 9 month departure. And, this is one special family.  Chad came home yesterday on the USS Cole. This video is heart-felt and full of love, passion, and emotion.  Get your tissues.

Welcome Home Chad!!! Thank you for your service and friendship.

Thank you Lynn & Chad for EVERYTHING you do.  AND, thank you for sharing your life with us.
